Pasta & Rice.

I loved the pasta, but my stomach didn’t quite like the pasta sauce.  It was very good; I just have really bad acid reflux.  On a different note, there were many things that I learned about pasta and grains that I didn’t know before.

PASTA:

Lab was the first time that I ever made homemade pasta before.  I thought that it was awesome, but breaking the well walls sure did make a mess. I guess you have to be ready for that anyways-everything makes a mess!!!  The pasta machine was really cool and much easier than a crank one.  I thought that the pasta was really good and it was cool to see how much pasta you could make out of our tiny balls of dough.

GRAIN:

I thought that rice was mostly 1:1 (water to rice).  I didn’t realize that there were so many different ratios.  1:1, 2:1, and even 4:1, it doesn’t really look like the tiny amount of rice we used could soak in soooo much liquid.  My favorite was the risotto because it was very creamy and delicious!!!

With all of that said, I think that my favorite part of lab was Alex’s mistake with the barley.  The risotto cakes were AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!!
